Journal Through Your Struggles with Fitness Celebrity Maria Kang

When Maria Kang made waves a couple of years ago with her viral  What’s your excuse”photo, few people expected her to be more than a social media moment. Kang, a mom of three, was determined to be more.

She wrote a book. She launched her own DVD and Belly Ball.

Most importantly, she now leads a No Excuse Mom movement with over 350 worldwide workout groups for busy moms.

People flock to her website and social media channels for advice on everything from fitness and diet to relationships and business.

But Kang makes a point to her social media followers — over 300,000 on Facebook and 73,000 on Instagram — that life is far from perfect.

She talks candidly about her own marriage struggles. She posts videos of her at the gym, making sure to let fans know goes behind the scenes: Today’s workout is dedicated to all the guilt. Here’s a big middle finger to the large pile of laundry, endless errands, unanswered emails, unreturned calls and dirty dishes. Don’t forget about YOU,” she recently wrote on Facebook.

What keeps her afloat what life gets messy? Journaling.

One thing I consistently do is journal. I’ve had a diary since I was in 4th grade and have consistently reflected on my life monthly,” Kang told us.

Sometimes she writes once a day, sometimes, a handful times a month.

Writing down her dreams, desires, goals, and frustrations, she said, encourages me to have patience with life’s seasons.”

Kang also shared a mantra that helps her get past temporary discomfort: There is nothing constant but change. However I feel today, it will change slowly tomorrow.”
